Welcome to the KeyMoves Training Program - Ergonome Incoporated is a privately held New York corporation specializing in computer ergonomics. It was formed in October, 1993, for the purposes of packaging and marketing an ergonomics methodology for preventing carpal tunnel syndrome (cts), rsi, cumulative trauma disorder (ctd), occupational overuse syndrome, musculoskeletal disorder, keyboarding injuries, computer injuries, and other repetitive stress injuries (rsi) caused by the use of incorrect hand and finger positions and motions at the computer keyboard. This keyboarding ergonomics or computer ergonomics methodology exists in software and print form, is proprietary to the Company, and it remains the first and only such methodology in existence.

This methodology was developed over a ten-year period by Stephanie Brown, an internationally-known concert pianist, and is equally applicable as prevention for those at risk and as retraining for the already injured. It was first published by the Company in February, 1994, as a 100-page book with 88 photographs called

What is the KeyMoves Training Program?

KeyMoves is a simple but comprehensive and enjoyable way to learn ergonomically correct use of a computer workstation. It is online training at its best -- engaging, informative and fun for the employee, and a cost-effective component of occupational safety training for the employer.

What is in the KeyMoves Training Program?

The KeyMoves Training Program consists of two modules:

1. Trainee Module

2. Supervisor Module

The Trainee Module has two sections:

  •

KeyMoves Software: This is the basic, preventive, self-training tool at the heart of the program. It teaches each individual employee how to adjust his or her computer workstation properly and how to type safely and comfortably on a standard keyboard. KeyMoves is based on the definitive text for correct keyboard use, "The HAND Book," by the concert pianist, Stephanie Brown.

KeyMoves licensees have access to printable copies of The HAND Book, which are particularly valuable for symptomatic employees to take home. The entire book may also be read onscreen from within KeyMoves Software on this site.

  •

KeyMoves Compliance Test: Trainees' comprehension and retention of their KeyMoves Software training is tested and verified in 20 multiple-choice questions.

Successful completion of the test by an employee generates:

  • A printable KeyMoves Compliance Certificate for the employee.
  • Signal to Supervisor Module database indicating employee completion.
  • All Trainees' test results are then aggregated and compiled into a database for supervisory analysis and compliance verification purposes. This database is accessible in the Supervisor Module.

The Supervisor Module contains six categories of information:

  • Demographic Information for each Individual Trainee
  • All Registered Trainees
  • Trainees who have attempted the KeyMoves Compliance Test
  • Trainees who have passed the KeyMoves Compliance Test
  • Trainees who have attempted, but not passed, the KeyMoves Compliance Test
  • Trainees who have not attempted the KeyMoves Compliance Test
  • Trainees who have not passed the KeyMoves Compliance Test
  • Individual Trainee Search Engine
  • The Supervisor Module is a simple but comprehensive Learning Management System (LMS), enabling you to manage the entire training process with e-mail templates which are provided. Ergonome creates a customized KeyMoves Supervisor Module for each KeyMoves licensee.

How do I distribute and run the KeyMoves Training Program?

The KeyMoves Training Program can be distributed and run in two ways:

  • Ergonome Hosting - Program is run on Ergonome's servers, over the Internet.
  • Self Hosting - Program is run on your servers, over your company intranet.
  • Smaller companies, with trainee populations of from ten to a few thousand persons, typically choose Ergonome Hosting. Ergonome provides passwords and access to the Program on Ergonome's servers for both trainees and supervisor. Larger companies often prefer to integrate the KeyMoves Training Program into their existing training management systems.

In 1995, the Company created a software version of “The HAND Book” called “KeyMoves” — an exciting, engaging, user-friendly tutorial program with 100 color screens. "KeyMoves" is an online ergonomics training program which is key in repetitive stress injury (rsi) prevention and the prevention of tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome (cts), occupational overuse syndrome, dequervain's syndrome, repetitive strain injuries (rsi), cumulative trauma disorder (ctd), musculoskeletal disorder (msd), keyboarding injuries, computer injuries, and other repetitive stress injuries, and the key to occupational health safety, workplace safety, risk management and teaches and applies ergonomic principles throughout the software program.

The original KeyMoves ergonomic software, versions 1.0 and 2.x, became the foundation for the full KeyMoves Training Program, version 3.5, which was piloted at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories in 1999-2000 and released for Internet distribution in January, 2001. The Program has undergone several upgrades since then, leading to Version 3.9, as shown on this free site, and Version 4.0, which is distributed to Ergonome's commercial customers.
